Jahangirnagar University established at savar near dhaka in 1970 under the Jahangirnagar Muslim University Ordinance 1970. Its first vice chancellor took up office on 24 September 1970. It was formally inaugurated on 12 January 1971. The university started its academic programmes with only 150 students enrolled in four departments: Economics, Geography, Mathematics and Statistics.

Eden Girls' College originated from a school for Brahmo girls established by Shubha Sadhini Sabha (a philanthropic society) in dhaka in 1873. Initially, the classes of the school were conducted in a private house at farashganj. In 1878, the school was merged with another private girls' school to form Dhaka Female School. The same year the school administration took the initiative to bring it under government management and proposed it be called Eden Girls' School after the Lieutenant Governor Sir Ashley Eden.

Jagannath University is situated in the southern part of the city of Dhaka near the Buriganga. This prestigious educational establishment has a history of about 150 years which started in 1858 when Dhaka Brahma School was founded in 1858 by Dinanath Sen, Prabhaticharan Roy, Anathbandhu Mallik and Brajasundar Kaitra. The name Jagannath school was given by Kishorilal Chowdhury, the Zamindar of Baliadi who took over the school in 1872 and renamed it after his father's name. In 1884, it was raised to a second grade college.

St Francis Xavier's Green Herald International School now located at Mohammadpur in Dhaka was established in 1912 at Laksmibazar by the Congregation of the Lady of Christian Missions. It was shifted to the present site after independence of the country and continues to be owned and managed by the Congregation, a body registered under the Societies Registration Act. It is one of the oldest English medium schools in Dhaka and is now affiliated to the University of Cambridge. It offers courses in humanities, commerce and science.

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology established at Kumargaon, sylhet in 1987 under the University Act No LXVII of 1986 of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh. It is the first science and technology university of the country and its physical facilities are developed on an area of 310 acres. The university started its operations on 14 February 1991 with three departments (Physics, Chemistry, and Economics), 13 teachers, and 205 students. At present, it has 5 faculties and 13 departments, around 3,000 students, 215 faculty members and 254 supporting staff.

Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College located in Bogra town, was established in 1992. It offers 5-year medical education course leading to MBBS. One-year internship after graduation is compulsory for all graduates. The college is affiliated to the University of Rajshahi, and the degree is recognised by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council.

Chittagong Municipal Model High School established first as a junior English school in 1880 by Shyamacharan Sen, a social worker of Gairala village of patiya, chittagong at the present location of the Baptist Mission Church in Firingibazaar of Chittagong. Shyamacharan was also the first headmaster of the school. Later, Chittagong Municipality shifted the school to its present place and upgraded it to a high English school. Its management was also taken over by the municipality.

St Joseph High School and College founded at Narinda in Dhaka in 1954 by Brother Jude, an American Missionary member of Congregation of Holy Cross working under the Catholic Archdiocese of Dhaka. The school was shifted to its present site at Mohammadpur in 1965. It continued as a Cambridge School until all English medium schools were asked by the government to change over to Bengali medium in 1972. It was then registered under Dhaka Board.
