Eden Girls' College originated from a school for Brahmo girls established by Shubha Sadhini Sabha (a philanthropic society) in dhaka in 1873. Initially, the classes of the school were conducted in a private house at farashganj. In 1878, the school was merged with another private girls' school to form Dhaka Female School. The same year the school administration took the initiative to bring it under government management and proposed it be called Eden Girls' School after the Lieutenant Governor Sir Ashley Eden.

B M College originated from Brajamohan School which was established in barisal in 1884. romesh chandra dutt, then district magistrate of Barisal, motivated aswini kumar datta to establish the school. It was named after his father Brajamohan Dutta. The school started functioning as a second grade college with the introduction of F A classes in 1889.

Jagannath University is situated in the southern part of the city of Dhaka near the Buriganga. This prestigious educational establishment has a history of about 150 years which started in 1858 when Dhaka Brahma School was founded in 1858 by Dinanath Sen, Prabhaticharan Roy, Anathbandhu Mallik and Brajasundar Kaitra. The name Jagannath school was given by Kishorilal Chowdhury, the Zamindar of Baliadi who took over the school in 1872 and renamed it after his father's name. In 1884, it was raised to a second grade college.

Jahangirnagar University established at savar near dhaka in 1970 under the Jahangirnagar Muslim University Ordinance 1970. Its first vice chancellor took up office on 24 September 1970. It was formally inaugurated on 12 January 1971. The university started its academic programmes with only 150 students enrolled in four departments: Economics, Geography, Mathematics and Statistics.

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology established at Kumargaon, sylhet in 1987 under the University Act No LXVII of 1986 of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh. It is the first science and technology university of the country and its physical facilities are developed on an area of 310 acres. The university started its operations on 14 February 1991 with three departments (Physics, Chemistry, and Economics), 13 teachers, and 205 students. At present, it has 5 faculties and 13 departments, around 3,000 students, 215 faculty members and 254 supporting staff.

St Francis Xavier's Green Herald International School now located at Mohammadpur in Dhaka was established in 1912 at Laksmibazar by the Congregation of the Lady of Christian Missions. It was shifted to the present site after independence of the country and continues to be owned and managed by the Congregation, a body registered under the Societies Registration Act.
