Bangladesh Sericulture Board

Bangladesh Sericulture Board Bangladesh Sericulture Board (BSB) located at Rajshahi, the Board was established in 1978 under a Presidential Ordinance (Ordinance 1977), and was entrusted with some specific functions to render welfare services to persons engaged in sericulture and to the silk industry. It consists of four full-time and seven part-time members. The chairman is the chief executive of the Board.
The main objectives of the BSB are (i) to plan and develop sericulture and the silk industry; (ii) to undertake, assist or encourage scientific, technological and economic research and training in sericulture; and (iii) to devise means for improved methods of cultivation of mulberry, castor, and other related plants.

Christian Mission Hospital

Christian Mission Hospital Christian Mission Hospital established initially by medical missionaries of the Presbyterian Church of England in 1887 as a 5-bed hospital in northern Bengal; it was later shifted to rajshahi town in 1890. In 1957, it was developed into a 100-bed hospital. In 1974 a 20-bedded children's ward was included, thus bringing the total number of beds to 120.
An eye clinic was opened in September 1991.

Rajshahi College

Rajshahi College Rajshahi College established in 1873 with the financial assistance of Raja Haralal Roy Bahadur of Dubalhati. Raja Haranath Roy donated land for the establishment of the college and the annual income from the property was five thousand rupees. Within a short period after establishment, the college became one of the main centres of higher education for the inhabitants of East Bengal, North Bengal, Bihar, Purnia and Assam. The FA (First Arts) classes of the college started on 1 April 1873 at the premises of the Rajshahi Zilla School (later Rajshahi Collegiate School).

University of Rajshahi University of Rajshahi the second largest university of Bangladesh, located 5 km north of the rajshahi city. Bagha Mosque

Bagha Mosque The Bagha Mosque is located at Bagha, 25 miles southeast of Rajshahi in Bangladesh. The mosque was built of brick on the bank of a tank and is surrounded by a brick wall. It is fairly well preserved and is now protected. The mosque is known for its beautiful terracotta ornamentation.

Rajshahi Public Library

Rajshahi Public Library Rajshahi Public Library Though the year of foundation of the Rajshahi Public Library is marked as 1884, it was perhaps founded sometime ago. Ananada Nath Roy, the Raja of Natore had set up a library in Rampur-Boalia (Rajshahi) which became known as the Ananda Nath Library after his name. In 1884 the library came to be known as Rajshahi Public Library and gradually its reputation spread far and wide.
Ananda Nath died in 1866.

Shiba-Baranai-Gurnai River

Shiba-Baranai-Gurnai River Shiba-Baranai-Gurnai River Originating from the Manda Beel of Tanore upazila in Rajshahi district, the Shiba river flows south for about 45 km and creates a great meander near Naohata where it is renamed as the Baranai and flows northeast. The river receives the Fakirni, a distributary of the atrai on its left-bank near Bagmara and turns southeast. From here it follows a tortuous course up to Belgharia and bifurcates into two branches. The right arm of the river flows southwest as the Musa Khan and meets the baral at Arani.

Puthia

Puthia Puthia has the largest number of historically important Hindu structures in Bangladesh. The most amazing of the villageís monuments is the Govinda Temple, which was erected between 1823 and 1895 by one of the maharanis of the Puthia estate. Itís a large square structure crowned by a set of miniature ornamental towers. Itís covered by incredibly intricate designs in terracotta depicting scenes from Hindu epics, which give it the appearance of having been draped by a huge red oriental carpet The ornate Siva Temple is an imposing and excellent example of the five-spire Hindu style of temple architecture common in northern India.
