Eden Girls' College

Eden Girls' College Eden Girls' College originated from a school for Brahmo girls established by Shubha Sadhini Sabha (a philanthropic society) in dhaka in 1873. Initially, the classes of the school were conducted in a private house at farashganj. In 1878, the school was merged with another private girls' school to form Dhaka Female School. The same year the school administration took the initiative to bring it under government management and proposed it be called Eden Girls' School after the Lieutenant Governor Sir Ashley Eden.

Lalbagh Fort

Lalbagh Fort The fort of Aurangabad, popularly known as the Lalbagh Fort, was built in 1678 AD by the then Viceroy of Bengal Prince Mohammad Azam, son of the Mughal Emperor Aurangazeb. The fort has a three storied structure with slender minarets at the South Gate. It has many hidden passages and a mosque of massive structure. Outstanding among the monuments of the Lalbagh Fort are the Tomb of Pari Bibi (Fairy lady) and Audience room and Hummam Khana (bathing place) of Nawab Shaista Khan, now housing a museum.

Jagannath University

Jagannath University Jagannath University is situated in the southern part of the city of Dhaka near the Buriganga. This prestigious educational establishment has a history of about 150 years which started in 1858 when Dhaka Brahma School was founded in 1858 by Dinanath Sen, Prabhaticharan Roy, Anathbandhu Mallik and Brajasundar Kaitra. The name Jagannath school was given by Kishorilal Chowdhury, the Zamindar of Baliadi who took over the school in 1872 and renamed it after his father's name. In 1884, it was raised to a second grade college.

St Francis Xavier's Green Herald International School

St Francis Xavier's Green Herald International School St Francis Xavier's Green Herald International School now located at Mohammadpur in Dhaka was established in 1912 at Laksmibazar by the Congregation of the Lady of Christian Missions. It was shifted to the present site after independence of the country and continues to be owned and managed by the Congregation, a body registered under the Societies Registration Act. It is one of the oldest English medium schools in Dhaka and is now affiliated to the University of Cambridge. It offers courses in humanities, commerce and science.

Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) a major biomedical institution of the country dedicated to post-graduate education in medicine. An organisation of similar nature and importance is the former Institute of Post-graduate Medicine and Research (IPGMR, established in 1965) which has recently been made a full-fledged medical university under the name bangabandhu sheikh mujib medical university. The BCPS has in its mandate the promotion of specialist practice in various branches of medicine such as Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, Enteric Diseases, Psychiatry, Anaesthesiology, Radiology, Radiotherapy, Clinical Pathology, Haematology, Biochemistry, Physical Medicine, Histopathology, Microbiology, and Dermatology and Venereology.
The college was established in 1962 with 45 Founder Fellows and a Council of 20 members.

Jahangir nagar University Jahangirnagar University established at savar near dhaka in 1970 under the Jahangirnagar Muslim University Ordinance 1970. Its first vice chancellor took up office on 24 September 1970. It was formally inaugurated on 12 January 1971. Ahsan Manjil

Ahsan Manjil Built in 1872 and standing on the river Buriganga, this stately building offers the visitors a feeling of the life-style of the Nawabs of Dhaka. Sometimes known as the Pink Palace, this building now houses a splendid museum. Basically, it was the residence of the Nawabs. Nawab Abdul Gani renovated this building in the year 1872 and named it after his son Khaza Ahasanullah.
